Carol read English at Oxford before training to become a solicitor.

She spent the first part of her career working at Linklaters and JPMorgan Chase in London and Hong Kong advising large multinational clients on all aspects of Technology, Media and Telecoms law.

In 2003 Carol moved into the public sector working as an in-house commercial lawyer for English Heritage. She joined QCA in November 2004.
