Geography
Last updated: 28 Sep 2007
Geography can provide opportunities for pupils newly arrived in England to develop a stronger sense of their identity and place in the world. They experience this at both a personal level, based on their past experiences, and in relation to the place they now live.
These pages describe ways in which the teaching of geography can benefit pupils newly arrived in England and how schools can maximise the opportunities offered by the subject. The guidance shows how teachers can modify, as necessary, the national curriculum programmes of study to provide pupils with relevant and appropriately challenging work at each key stage.
