Annual Conference 2005
QCA Northern Ireland's annual conference took place on the 15th March 2005 at the Hilton Hotel, Belfast. The event was well attended by 150 delegates representing business organisations, training providers and sector skills bodies.
The theme of the 2005 conference focused on Improving skills and qualifications - new thinking for reform. The conference this year was held at an important time in the skills and qualifications agenda for Northern Ireland. The recent launch of the consultation on the development of a Framework for Achievement, proposing radical reform of vocational qualifications, coupled with the current consultation on a Northern Ireland skills strategy, puts skills and qualifications at the head of a challenging agenda.
The event provided an overview of some significant developments already taking place in both skills and qualifications and gave QCA in Northern Ireland an opportunity to report on recent work we have carried out on e-assessment and enabled us to present examples of qualifications that are being tailored to meet employers' needs.
Copies of the conference publication and DVD launched on the day is available from the NI office, please contact us on 028 9033 0706 or via e-mail to: jenkinsp@qca.org.uk. Alternatively you can download the case study material and articles from the annual conference publication via the NVQ case studies and features and reports web pages.
