The advanced extension award (AEA) is targeted at the most able advanced level students. General information about AEAs can be found on the QCA 14–19 website.

AEAs are available in the following modern foreign languages:

• French (OCR)
• German (CCEA)
• Spanish (Edexcel)
• Irish (CCEA).

The specification, sample assessment materials and guidance notes are available from the relevant awarding body. Any school or college that wishes to enter candidates for AEA should contact the awarding body.
