Whole-school initiatives
The above activities are examples of good practice. They provide effective learning opportunities for pupils to value diversity and challenge racism. They focus on helping pupils understand and appreciate aspects of cultural difference, context and change while challenging and extending their perceptions of themselves and other people.
The Respect for all whole-school activities are suitable for an entire school rather than a single individual, group or class. All the Respect for all activities (subject-specific as well as whole-school), are aimed at everyone in the school (pupils and staff) and, in some cases, at the community beyond the school (parents, extended family members, friends, and others). The aims and objectives of the activities are not focused exclusively on what pupils learn or achieve, but what could be learned or achieved by anyone participating in the activity.
