Good practice example 6: Empowering staff to use resources
A local authority organised an INSET day and encouraged every school to send a representative. The event, which was targeted at headteachers, curriculum advisers and classroom teachers, was used to raise awareness of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act’s requirements and to familiarise staff with Trial and error: Learning about racism through citizenship education (a free DfES CD-ROM; order number DfES/0723/2003). Participants had hands-on experience of the resource and were encouraged to pass on information about its contents and uses to others in their school.
