Futures - meeting the challenge
Last updated: 03 Sep 2008
What is Futures?
'Education only flourishes if it successfully adapts to the demands and needs of the time.'
'The curriculum cannot remain static. It must be responsive to changes in society and the economy, and changes in the nature of schooling itself.'
National Curriculum
QCA Futures is a national conversation about the future of learning. We have been talking with people involved in education about how they think the curriculum might change so that it better inspires and challenges young people and prepares them for the future.
You can read some thought-provoking ideas about the future of the curriculum by prominent curriculum commentators under 'something to think about'. Views that have emerged from the debate so far are in the section called 'emerging views'. The Futures debate is ongoing: you can contribute your views to our online forum.
We use the views that emerge from the Futures debate to inform QCA's ongoing programme of curriculum modernisation. We share this vision with other organisations that have a stake in education. We also work with schools that want to make the most of the flexibility they see in the curriculum: you can find out more about this through our Futures in action pages.
The curriculum that young people experience should be a source of national pride. We look forward to hearing your views and using them to help make our curriculum the very best it can be.
