Authority and expertise

A highly experienced board, appointed by and reporting to the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, governs QCA’s work.

The board champions the needs of learners at every stage of life. Our chairman is Sir Anthony Greener, a respected business leader and past chairman of the University for Industry. Our chief executive is Ken Boston, a former director-general of education in New South Wales. He is supported by an experienced executive team with expertise in every area of education, training and business.

Alan

‘How do I know if the qualifications that prospective employees have really make them suitable for my business?’
Alan started his building company in 1987 and now heads a business with a turnover of £3 million and more than 30 employees. Several of his staff have joined the company with NVQs in one or more of the construction disciplines. Two of his members of staff are currently training on apprenticeships.

A business associate suggested he visit QCA’s NDAQ database to find out which type and level of qualification would be best for his staff and his business.

He is considering expanding by acquiring an electrical contracting firm based in Belfast. Alan has downloaded information from QCA’s website to help him understand the range of qualifications in the electrical sector. He was able to call QCA in Northern Ireland to find out how NVQs are offered there.
