‘I’m worried about my key stage 3 tests. When I move to my new school will I have learnt about different things from the rest of my class?’Yasin’s family is moving from Nottingham to Bristol because of his father’s job. He will have plenty of changes to cope with but at least he and his family can be sure that the work he has done at his school in Nottingham will stand him in good stead. Part of QCA’s role is to ensure that learners like Yasin are not penalised by moving school. He can rely on the fact that, throughout England, the content of the national curriculum is consistent across the country and the tests are fair, as are the way marks and levels are given. Once he moves into year 10, Yasin plans to take a GCSE in engineering, as he is very keen to become an engineer. QCA’s commitment to providing young people like Yasin with a continuous pathway to further education means that he can progress smoothly from GCSE level to taking a vocational A level in engineering, and from there to further qualifications. |
