Citizenship in financial services training

It's about taking responsibility for people around youThe European College of Business and Management provides customised work- and college-based business and management training courses to young people and adults in employment. It has recently introduced a citizenship component to its Advanced Modern Apprenticeship financial services course.

Citizenship through sports leadership

Citizenship builds up your self-esteem. It builds you as a person.Training for Life is a registered charity that offers health, fitness and sports-related courses to young people who would be unlikely to gain a qualification otherwise. Keen to encourage young people to consider their place in the community and what they can do to change it, the organisation recently introduced a citizenship component to its Community Sports Leader's Award course.

The young people attend weekly personal development sessions, where the focus is gradually widened from personal to social and political issues. As a result of the course, two young people have gone on to make a film about young people and crime. Others come back to Training for Life as peer mentors, supporting others as they in turn learn about citizenship and work towards the Community Sports Leader's Award.
