Citizenship schemes of work
The materials in the schemes of work are designed to help schools plan and develop citizenship. At key stages 1 and 2 the scheme addresses the citizenship aspects of the PSHE and citizenship framework.
At key stage 3 and key stage 4 the materials support schools as they plan and develop provision to meet the requirement of the national curriculum programmes of study.
Each scheme contains:
- a Teacher’s Guide, with practical ideas about whole-school planning, approaches to and delivery of citizenship;
- exemplar units that reflect the flexible nature of the citizenship programme of study requirements. The units can be adapted by schools to meet the needs of their pupils and to fit in with their provision
- subject leaflets (key stage 3 only) which map where citizenship and other subject programmes of study are compatible and suggest opportunities for teaching citizenship through other subjects; and
- a booklet of ideas about involving pupils in different aspects of school and community-based activities
Additional copies are available from QCA publications on 08700 606015, QCA/02/877 (key stage 1 and 2) QCA/01/776 (key stage 3), QCA/02/853 (key stage 4).
