History: Inclusion issues: Setting suitable learning challenges

Teachers can challenge pupils who are gifted in history by:

teaching them some of the knowledge, skills and understanding for history from later key stages;

extending the breadth and depth of study;

giving them access to a wide range of sources;

providing opportunities for them to communicate their understanding of history in a variety of ways;

creating opportunities for them to show their initiative in a range of situations;

encouraging them to apply and extend their particular capabilities, as well as developing other capabilities.
