An accelerated learning programme for pupils who are gifted in science might include:

beginning GCSE double or triple award science after the national curriculum tests in year 9

taking GCSE science at the end of year 10, and starting AS in sciences in year 11

using materials that are designed to accelerate cognitive development and following these up by having gifted pupils do more open-ended and conceptually difficult work than the rest of the class does.
