Society, Health and Development: radio advert showcasing the Diploma

In this radio advert, a pupil sees first-hand how to help disabled people play a full part in society. This is just one way that a Diploma in society, health and development could offer hands-on experience to pupils.

Transcript

Teacher: Ok Year 12, today we're looking at the sort of difficulties disabled people can face with their surroundings

Pupil: Like stair access?

Teacher: Exactly, Tara. You'll see what I mean on your work placements next week...

Care worker: As you can see we're customising the flat to meet Mr Jarvis' needs

Pupil: Yeah, I noticed the wheelchair ramps. Are you going to lower the work surfaces as well?

Care worker: Good thinking. In fact, that's our next job on the list. Now if you have a look over here on the right you'll see...

Teenage narrator: The Diploma is a great new way of combining class work with hands-on experience. There's a range to choose from, so if you're in Year 9 or 11 and looking at your options for next September you should check out what's available in your area.
