Construction and the built environment: radio advert showcasing the Diploma

In this radio advert, a pupil looks at the use of renewable energy on a housing project. This is just one way that a Diploma in construction and the built environment could offer hands-on experience to pupils.

Transcript

Teacher: Ok Year 10, today we're going to look at how renewable energy can be integrated into new housing

Pupil: Like wind and solar power?

Teacher: Spot on, Michelle. You should get a good look at this on your work experience next week because they'll take you round...

Builder: As you can see we're using solar panels on the roof of every power to heat the water

Pupil: That'll save a lot of energy

Builder: That's right. Combined with the other energy-saving features we’ve calculated these will produce 60 per cent less carbon than conventional homes

Pupil: That's brilliant!

Builder: Come on, I'll show you how to calculate it yourself...

Teenage narrator: The Diploma is a great new way of combining class work with hands-on experience. There's a range to choose from, so if you're in Year 9 or 11 and looking at your options for next September you should check out what's available in your area.
