Applying science
In science key stage 2, pupils learn about living things, materials and natural phenomena, applying scientific ideas to everyday events, as well as to their personal health.
The national curriculum for key stage 2 includes:
- ideas and evidence in science
- investigative skills
- life processes
- humans and other animals
- green plants
- variation and classification
- living things in their environment
- grouping and classifying materials
- changing materials
- electricity
- forces and motion
- light and sound
- the Earth and beyond.
Compulsory subject
Science is compulsory at key stage 2.
