This report was commissioned by QCA and is the result of research in the hospitality sector carried out between October 1999 and March 2000. The research set out to examine issues of assessment for candidates principally in relation to gender, ethnicity/race and English as an additional language, but does have broader application to all candidates. The report also makes recommendations on how QCA could provide guidance for awarding bodies, candidates and employers on fair assessment. Work is continuing in this area.
