The Government has confirmed that it does not want to proceed with the development of a Science Diploma at present and has asked QCA to undertake a programme of work to ensure that science curriculum and qualifications are attractive to all learners meeting the needs of higher education and employers.

On the basis of this work QCA will make recommendations to Government on the ways in which the science curriculum and qualifications could be developed, including a recommendation on the specific issue of whether adding a Science Diploma to the qualifications offer would have a positive impact on participation and progression.
