C: Skills and attributes in the key stage 4 curriculum
C1: How do you develop personal, learning and thinking skills and attributes through the current key stage 4 curriculum in English?
English departments who responded are broadly confident that they integrate personal learning skills and attributes into their teaching. Over 85 per cent believe that they develop these skills through delivery, compared with only two-thirds who integrate these skills into their schemes of work. The figures are slightly higher for thinking skills, with 91 per cent of schools developing these skills through delivery of the subject and 85 per cent indicating they are integral to the schemes of work. English shows a similar pattern to most subjects for learning skills, which respondents said are mainly integrated and developed through delivery but also identified during AfL.
