C: Skills and attributes in the key stage 4 curriculum
C1: How do you develop personal, learning and thinking skills and attributes through the current key stage 4 curriculum in design and technology?
Thinking skills and learning skills are both most commonly developed in design and technology by delivery through the subject or by integrating them with the schemes of work. Most schools deliver thinking and learning skills in these ways. Roughly 80 per cent embed them in assessment for qualifications. Most schools develop personal skills in design and technology by delivering them through the subject and they are integral to the schemes of work in a majority of the departments. Just over half give credit for personal skills via AfL and just under half embed personal skills in the qualifications they use. Fifteen per cent either have no clear idea how to identify these skills in design and technology or do not develop them.
