Press Release: Guidance on Curriculum 2000 reforms published

Last updated: 20 Dec 2002

The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) has launched web-based guidance for teachers, schools and college managers on the range of opportunities that the Curriculum 2000 reforms can offer. The Curriculum 2000 in Action site includes a statement on A level standards and a review of A level awarding in 2002.

The Curriculum 2000 in Action site will be the gateway to everything schools and colleges need to know about Curriculum 2000, with guidance on management issues, and case studies showing the reforms in action. The website aims to show how some schools and colleges have successfully designed their curriculum to enable the maximum benefit to students from the Curriculum 2000 reforms.

The site also has links to:

  • Statement on A level Standards
This statement is designed to explain clearly what the A level standard represents
  • Review of A level awarding in 2002
This review explains how A levels were graded this summer and identifies the problems that examiners faced. It clarifies the issues around the use of statistical data in the awarding process and how they are used to inform examiner's judgements.
