Improving curriculum planning

This section contains guidance on making the most of the increased flexibility and reduced prescription in the revised national curriculum programmes of study for history through effective planning. The aim is to help both primary and secondary teachers develop effective and innovative plans for teaching and learning in history that support progression and captivate the pupils' interest in the subject.

This section contains some general guidance on long-, medium- and short-term planning, including the key principles for planning. In addition, this section includes models and case studies from actual schools to illustrate that there are a variety of ways to plan history.
