Contributing to the wider curriculum

Key stage 1

History provides young children with many real contexts in which to develop and use a variety of learning skills, which are important across the curriculum. Through the wider curriculum, history can become more meaningful and relevant to children's lives and learning.

Aim to link children's learning through history to their wider experiences.

Look for opportunities to develop children's skills in literacy, numeracy and ICT through their learning in history.
