Curriculum guidance materials from QCA

QCA has published a number of curriculum guidance materials that primary and secondary history teachers will find useful.

National curriculum in action uses pupils' work to exemplify the national curriculum programmes of study for history in key stages 1 to 3. There are over 70 examples, with more to be added this term. If you are interested in providing us with further examples of pupils' work that illustrate good primary or secondary history, please email the history team (history@qca.org.uk).

The website also provides ideas and inspiration on promoting creativity in the classroom and implementing the statutory requirements for ICT in history, supported by examples of pupils’ work.

Guidance on teaching the gifted and talented helps schools meet the inclusion agenda for teaching history to pupils who are gifted in history, while National curriculum online provides guidance on teaching history to pupils with learning difficulties who are unlikely to progress beyond the national curriculum levels 1 or 2.

Respect for all exemplifies good practice in multicultural and anti-racist education. We are still looking for new materials (such as examples of specific lessons) to add to this website. If you wish to contribute, please email the history team (history@qca.org.uk).
