History matters

Introduction

'History matters' complements the other sections of the website by providing ways to expand your horizons as a history teacher. For instance, the section entitled 'It worked for me' contains examples of innovative and effective practice, relating to various aspects of teaching and learning in history; this material was provided by primary and secondary teachers. In 'New developments in history' you can find out about the latest news from QCA and other developments in history. If you want to ensure that history gains a sufficiently high profile in your school then the sections on 'Promoting the subject' and 'Careers in history' may help you. The section on Key Stage 2/3 transfer in history looks at effective ways of promoting progression between primary and secondary history. Details and links to history subject associations and other useful organisations can also be accessed through the right-hand menu.

Please share any interesting developments in the subject in your school that could benefit history teachers elsewhere.
