History at 14-19

Although this website is primarily designed for teachers of five- to 14-year-olds, you will find much valuable material for teaching history at the 14-19 phase.

Many of the ideas and approaches in the key stage 3 sections of the website are, with a little modification, relevant to key stage 4.

If you're interested in new developments in history, careers in history or promoting history, visit the History matters part of this website, designed to support history across all key stages and phases.

For general information, latest news and guidance on 14-19 learning, visit the QCA 14-19 website. There is a specific section relating to effective teaching and learning in AS/A level history which includes:

  • information on specifications available and some discussion of similarities and differences between them
  • news of QCA projects relating to AS/A level history
  • discussion and case studies of effective teaching and learning in history
  • material on AS/A level standards in history including exemplification material (examples of students' work in examinations).
