Use your local archive to gather photocopies of job advertisements from the local area in the 1970s. Then ask pupils to collect examples of current job advertisements. In class, pupils categorise both sets into primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, find differences between the two sets and think about reasons for any changes. In addition, pupils could categorise by professional / skilled manual / unskilled manual or compare patterns of full-time / part-time work.
