Geography's contribution to the wider curriculum
in key stage 3

Geography has a significant contribution to make to numeracy, literacy, citizenship, ICT, and the foundation subjects strand of the Key Stage 3 Strategy. Geography provides pupils with many real contexts in which to develop and use a variety of learning skills that are important across the curriculum. At the same time, the development of wider skills is important in enhancing pupils' geographical learning.

This does not mean redesigning the wheel. On the contrary, the wider curriculum strategies provide ways of breathing new life into the existing provision for geography at key stage 3, to make it more stimulating, meaningful and relevant to young people's lives and learning.

Examples of geography contributing to the wider curriculum in key stage 3 are currently being collected. If you have any good examples, submit them for possible inclusion.
