7.1At what time should the tests be taken?
Schools are responsible for deciding the most appropriate start time for each paper within the identified sessions. Tests scheduled in the statutory timetable for a morning session must be completed before 12 noon and tests scheduled for an afternoon must start after 12 noon.
In any one school, all pupils taking the tests must take each test at the same time, unless unavoidable practical difficulties make this impossible. Where a school schedules two sittings for a particular test within a half-day session, for example, the mental mathematics tests, no pupil should have the opportunity to communicate with any pupils who have already taken the test. The two sittings must follow on immediately from one another.
For the English Writing paper, schools are required to administer the longer and shorter tasks in the same sitting.
