3.1Teacher assessment throughout key stage 2

Teacher assessment is an essential part of the national curriculum assessment and reporting arrangements, and is carried out as part of teaching and learning.

In years 3, 4 and 5 there is no requirement for schools to report teacher assessment levels to the NAA; they only need to be reported at the end of the key stage.

Teachers might find it helpful to use the Assessing Pupils' Progress materials for reading, writing and mathematics, which will be available in January 2008 on the DCSF Standards website at www.standards.dcsf.gov.uk.
