Diploma Phase 4

Last updated: 08 Dec 2008

Welcome to the webpages for the phase 4 Diplomas in:

  • humanities
  • languages
  • science

In October 2007, the Department for Children, Schools and Families announced that a further three Diplomas in subject-based areas would be available for first teaching from September 2011, bringing the total number of Diploma lines of learning to 17. They will be part of the same 2013 entitlement as the original 14 lines of learning.

Employers and awarding bodies have teamed up with schools, colleges and universities to form Diploma Development Partnerships (DDPs) and develop high quality content for the Diplomas in languages, science and humanities. The DDPs are currently defining the content of these lines of learning prior to consultation taking place in early 2009.

The Line of Learning Statement will form a basis for the line of learning criteria and also inform development of the principal learning qualifications for each Diploma at each level within Phase 4.

By registering your interest in the Phase 4 Diplomas by clicking on the link to the left of this page, you will receive the latest information about these Diplomas as developments progress. This will also include details of the national consultations for the line of learning statement now due to take place in February 2009, and the line of learning criteria due to take place in April and May 2009.
