Why invest in the arts?

Investing in the arts can transform schools. The arts can raise standards, change attitudes, improve behaviour and increase the quality of teaching and learning. These are the key messages to come out of research that QCA has been carrying out over the past three years. This section of the website takes a closer look at how developing the arts can:

  • enhance and enrich pupils' education
  • contribute to school improvement
  • improve links with the community and contribute to the economy.

All of the schools involved in the research were very pleased that they had invested in the arts. Their only regret was that they hadn't done so sooner.
