Creative industries and the economy

Pupils with arts skills and knowledge can actively look for employment in the arts and creative industries when they leave school. This spans everything from acting, painting, writing, dancing, architecture, fashion and design, to film, digital media, television, broadcasting and advertising.

The creative industries have a turnover of around £60 billion and employ more than 1.4 million people. They are one of the fastest areas of growth in the UK economy.

There are more opportunities in the arts now than ever before. Pupils need to be given information about the wide range of arts-related careers, so they can make informed choices.
