Developing artistic skills, knowledge and understanding

The arts offer something for everyone. Work in the different arts:

  • involves a range of ways of learning (visual, aural, kinaesthetic and oral);
  • recognises and develops different forms of intelligence.

This enables all pupils to achieve in the arts, increasing their self-esteem and confidence.

Through arts education, pupils can develop creative and critical skills. They learn how to challenge assumptions and give informed opinions. They also gain access to a range of arts-related careers and opportunities in later life.
