Steps to success

How can schools provide successful arts education? QCA's research suggests there are three key steps to success:

  • creating the right environment for the arts to flourish
  • providing a broad, balanced and progressive arts programme for all pupils
  • making the most of help outside school.

This section helps arts coordinators and teachers achieve these three steps. The guidance given applies to primary and secondary schools and to all arts disciplines. Schools have found that arts are the most effective when teachers work together as a whole arts team.
