Improving pupils' writing through drama

How did the school collect evidence?

The school collected evidence of the success of this project by:

  • talking with children;
  • looking at video recordings and photographs that provided eye-witness accounts and celebrated the work;
  • recording stories at key points over time;
  • teacher observation;
  • assessing children's work -- both spoken and written
  • recording comments made by children, staff and parents.

The school took baseline information on children's writing and drama skills before the work began and compared it to information collected in the same way at the end of the work. As a control, samples of work by children in classes that weren't involved in the project were also collected.
