|
GNVQ currently exists at foundation and intermediate levels (levels 1 and 2). The GNVQ is a suite of general vocational qualifications, providing an introduction to a broad vocational area. It is available in 14 titles and offers progression to training for employment and further study at levels 2 and 3. It is primarily delivered in further education institutions to post-16 students on programmes that normally last one or two years. Each GNVQ consists of six units; four are assessed internally by a portfolio of coursework and two are externally assessed. The GNVQ will be withdrawn in three stages from summer 2005 to 2007. The regulatory authorities have identified successor qualifications to the GNVQ. Schools, colleges, employers and employer organisations, professional bodies, subject and school and college associations have been consulted on the principles used to identify successors and they have been consulted on the process for managing the qualification’s withdrawal. QCA continues to match possible successor qualifications to the principles. The link below leads to further information, including the consultation outcomes.
