Citizenship post-16 |
Citizenship is a statutory national curriculum subject in schools for pupils aged 11-16. At 16, young people follow a variety of different routes in education and training and take on many different responsibilities at home, work, school, college and in their communities. The Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA) citizenship development projects are trying out different ways of continuing citizenship learning beyond 16. There are currently 20 regional projects in England looking at ways of encouraging young people to become active citizens. QCA is developing guidance for post-16 citizenship, including case studies of effective practice. Further details will be available in the autumn of 2003.
