This part of the website contains discussion and guidance on curriculum planning, design and timetabling. It illustrates the range and depth of experience and good practice that can be used to inform curriculum planning and improve provision in ways that meet the needs of students and are manageable for schools and colleges. It also challenges aspects of current thinking and provision. It links to a wealth of case study material provided by schools and colleges that have taken a proactive approach to curriculum development. Where the examples relate to post-16 provision, most approaches have had time to be tested and adapted where necessary. Where they are of new or proposed developments at key stage 4, there has obviously been insufficient time for evaluation. For this reason, the key stage 4 curriculum case studies should be regarded as work in progress and we are grateful to the schools for their willingness to share it. In this section
